Love! Lust! Revenge!

Composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd is lush, operatic, full of soaring beauty, pitch-black comedy and stunning terror. Winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, it is one of the signal achievements of the American musical theater of the last fifty years.  A Musical Thriller, Sweeney Todd tells the unsettling tale of a Victorian-era barber who returns home to London after fifteen years of exile to take revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life. When revenge eludes him, Sweeney swears vengeance on the entire human race, murdering as many people as he can, while his business associate, Mrs. Lovett, bakes the victims into meat pies and sells them to the unsuspecting public who can’t seem to get enough of her tasty fare. The Provincetown Theater is proud to present this 40th anniversary production.

It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is based on the classic holiday movie with a clever twist thrown in: the story is staged as a live radio broadcast. Actors portray numerous characters, and sound effects are done through Foley artists. It’s a Wonderful Life is about the life of George Bailey, a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast and tired to continue living. It will take help from a lovable angel to show George what life would be like if he wasn’t born for George to have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the holidays.
