Our Mission

We are a home for bold diverse american voices.

The Provincetown Theater is a non-profit performing arts organization located in Provincetown—a nationally recognized arts community with a fiercely local spirit, where creativity, diversity, and coastal life intersect.

Nestled in a town often regarded as the birthplace of American theater, our 110-seat venue operates year-round, producing bold new works, reimagining classics, and presenting contemporary plays and musicals from a wide range of American voices.

Since our founding in 2001, the Provincetown Theater has been a leader in developing and presenting vital, original theater on Cape Cod. Each season, we produce a mix of new work and established plays while supporting emerging and accomplished artists as they bring compelling stories to the stage. We are committed to nurturing artistic risk-taking and engaging audiences with work that challenges, entertains, and sparks dialogue.

At the Provincetown Theater, we honor our town’s theatrical legacy while helping shape the next chapter of American theater.
