DIAMOND TO JADE: A Reading feat. Darlene Van Alstyne

Tuesday, October 13th at 3 pm

Diamond to Jade is a searingly funny and unapologetically raw one-act solo play written by TJ Armand. Set against the backdrop of a COVID-19 lockdown in New York City, the story follows Jade—a complicated, African-American, queer CEO unraveling on her 50th birthday after being tasked with firing 200 employees via Zoom. Surrounded by UPS boxes filled with relics from her past, Jade spirals into a scathing, hilarious, and heartbreaking therapy session that lays bare the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, capitalism, and grief. Diamond to Jade is a meditation on memory, survival, and reinvention in a world that prizes youth, perfection, and performance.

The play features original music specifically written for the play as a companion soundtrack. The piece is a love letter to queer resilience and a fierce critique of corporate culture—and the perfect vehicle for Provincetown’s powerhouse performer Darlene Van Alstyne.

KNOCK ON WOOD: Public Workshop #2

Monday, October 19th at 7 pm

A free, public reading of the latest version of Brian Calhoon’s original marimba musical, Knock on Wood, with audience talkback to follow.

Knock on Wood is a coming-of-ADHD story about Brian’s to-do list, his shame list, and his marimba, and what they all have in common. Living year-round in Provincetown, he discovers that it’s hard to find your ground when you live on sand, and he looks to the trees for help.

Written and performed by Brian Calhoon, directed by Helen Lewis-Michelson, with Jessi Rosinski (flute) and Javier Caballero (cello).

The TELL: Family Recipe

Sunday, November 22nd at 7 pm

A night of true stories about the ingredients that make a family what it is: traditions, secrets, rivalries, rituals, characters, celebrations, and the wonderfully complicated dynamics that come with being related. Maybe it’s the story of a grandmother’s legendary Thanksgiving dish, a holiday tradition that got completely out of hand, the family member who always stirred the pot, or the recipe for surviving your particular clan.

TELL us about where you came from, who shaped you, what your family handed down—or what you decided to leave off the menu.
